If you are retired and receive U.S. Social Security, UFile is the simply the best tax filing software that I have tried.

After years of using Quicktax I chose to try Ufile do to its lower price. Well that turned out to be a real mistake. The software is much more limited and you can only get email support (damn near impossible to get an answer to a question without taking days). The problem stemmed from "home office expenses" for a “work at home” employee. It shows up in ufile’s tree menu but you I couldn’t find a way to get to the hydro, gas, etc. expense claims on the T777 form. At least with Quicktax if its not available through their screens they provide the ability to edit the tax forms directly. After hours of trying with Ufile I threw up my hands and went out and purchase Quicktax. Unfortunately if was over two months since I purchased Ufile so their “satisfaction guarantee” was no longer valid. Well I have learned my lesson! By the way I am an “Infrastructure Specialist” with years of computer experience, MCSE (Microsoft) certified, firewall engineer, etc., so basically, I am no slouch when it comes to computers or working programs. I also have a college education with 2 years of accounting training.

Good luck to the less capable trying to use Usfile.
