Taxtron windows product was very easy to use. I downloaded the software from their website www.taxtron.ca and finished my taxes in about 30 minutes. I netfiled my taxes and recieved my refund in ten days.

The best about using taxtron was that this was completely free. My net income is under $30,000 and was pleasenly surprised to find that taxtron would be completely free for me.

I would recommend this product highly.

Did a return with income under $30k and netfiled it. It worked great. It was also free for such a simple return.

For last 3 yrs I have been using quicktax to prepare my taxes. They have been increasing their prices every year. I found taxtron listed on Revenue Canada website. I downloaded the program for free and netfiled my return just by paying $13.GREAT PRICE

I am a student. This is my first year of doing taxes. I tried taxtron and found it very easy. It just kept on showing me the screens and I kept on filing in the information. Very easy navigation through 5 steps. online help is very good. in help there is information for tax technicalities and how to use taxtron also.
great product and i will use it for next year also.

This is a very good program.

I have used Taxtron in previous years, but this year I have seen several problems with the program, When attempting to link a spouses form, the program crashes. I have re-opened files to find a few of the fields have been changed since I last edited the form. (ie, since I can't link in a spouses form the marriage fields sometimes reset.) Their support has been nil, 3 services requests and still waiting. For their benefit, Taxtron was always a very nice package to use, but I have to reserve my recommendations this year.

I've switched to TaxTron this year because I bought a Mac. It is crashing every time I try to access Filing Instructions on the menu; it refused to accept a correct SIN number on one file, until I shut it down and started a new file, the Help buttons do not elicit Help, and it repeatedly gives an error message that the postal code is incorrect, when it is not--I'm a little dubious about how it can accurately do all those complex calculations accurately when there are so many basic glitches. I'm glad to see that some of you are happy with it.

I like much about the taxtron interface but have found increasingly severe problems with the software crashing when spousal returns are linked. In fact I now can't access or file these returns and am waiting waiting for Taxtron support.

I also file Quebec returns and have discovered errors in review especially in relation to data for dependants. I am not confident that the Fed-Que links are bug free.

Lack of support to correct the program instability at a critical time may well lead to late filing. I can't endorse this product for people with complex linked returns.

DO NOT USE TAXTRON!! They claim on their website that they will refund your money if you are not satisfied, but they will NOT.
I used the program for the 2003 and 2004 tax years, and attempted to use it again for 2005. I tried to import last years' returns, but that did not work. Thinking that I needed a "key" to make this work, I paid for the program using my Visa on their website. But even with a "key" it still failed to import the previous years' returns.
Then, after re-entering all the info, it wouldn't "save" any of it! Their tech-support could not help me. I then advised them I could not use their program, and requested a refund. That is when they stopped acknowledging my emails. Calling their office long distance at my expense (no toll-free) presented 2 options: tech support and sales. When I selected sales, it automatically re-directed my call to tech-support, and thus on "hold" while on long-distance! There seems to be no way to talk to a live human being. All my requests for a refund have been ignored.
I used TaxFreeway instead, and was very happy with it.

I used taxtron for my 2004 income tax. It was free because I earned below 30 000 $. I was satisfied.

This year for my 2005 income tax I paid by mistake because I followed the wrong links to download the program. I thought they only wanted my credit card info to verify my identity. My mistake. I dowloaded the program anyway but could not use it because this year it only works with XP. My computer uses Windows ME. I started asking for a refund by sending messages to their helpdesk on April 29th. I sent them two other emails after that and they finally sent me a real reply (not an automated one) on the 11th of may. It said that they refunded me.

So overall my experience with Taxtron has been OK. I might give them another chance next year if I buy a new computer.
