The CRA My Account for Individuals
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) My Account service allows individual tax filers to track their refund, view or change tax returns, check benefit and credit payments, view RRSP limits, as well as other services including setting up direct deposit, receive online mail, and more. As per the CRA, if you are registered with their My Account service then you can also use the Auto-fill my return feature when you file online using certified tax preparation software. There are certified tax preparation and tax filing applications that allow you to file a return either via an online web application or via software apps that are downloadable to your computer or mobile device.
Using a mobile phone or tablet device? The CRA also makes available a MyCRA mobile app that allows you to securely access key parts of your tax information as well as the ability to manage your personal details. There are, of course, certified mobile apps for tax preparation software too.
There are two ways to access the My Account from the CRA web site: from a partner service (like online banking) where you can use the same sign in information you use for other online services, or; log in with your CRA user ID and password (or register if you do not yet have a CRA user ID and password).
The CRA also notes that representatives (including friends and family members) can access the My Account of another individual, on behalf of someone else, using the Represent a Client feature. You can also set up a payment plan through My Account but to make an online payment through the CRA, you need to use the Make a payment feature.
